Being flexible

My recent project “Deserter” was a lot of fun. Since it is a WWII movie, I wanted a rough, dark and cold look for the poster.

The director provided me with some still photographs. I chose one of them, added some digital magic and turned it into the key image for all following material.

I knew that I needed to be flexible in formats so the key image is actually working in various aspect ratios: Portrait, landscape, widescreen…

This allowed me to very easily layout all formats:

As you can see, the DVD label uses another picture which I recycled from on of the other layouts I made initially:
